505.20 IMPOUNDING AND DISPOSITION; RECORDS.
   (a)   In addition to other penalties applicable to violations of this chapter, a police officer or agent of the City responsible for animal control and acting upon the express direction of a police officer, shall impound every animal found in violation of Sections 505.01 and 505.04 and may impound any animal which is the subject of a violation in Sections 505.06, 505.07, 505.08, or 505.09. If the impounded animal is a dog and is not wearing a valid registration tag, the dog shall forthwith be turned over to an officer charged by law with the custody and disposal of such dogs. If the impounded animal is a dog wearing a valid registration tag or cat wearing registration tag issued by the City of Grandview Heights or the identity of the owner or person having charge of the animal is otherwise established, notice shall immediately be given to such owner or person having charge that the animal has been impounded. Notice shall be by personal delivery or certified mail to the address listed upon the application for such registration tag. The animal shall not be released except upon the payment of the expenses for its taking and keeping. Any dog not redeemed within not less than three work days of the date of service of the foregoing notice may be sold or otherwise disposed of as provided by Ohio R.C. 995.16.
   (b)   A record of all animals impounded, the disposition of the same, the owner's name and address, if known, and a statement of any costs or receipts involving each such animal shall be kept.
