The Chief of Police, night police and other police officials shall be subject to duty and call at all fires and said police shall respond and assist in every way they can in getting the apparatus to the fire and shall take charge and protect any property needing their protection, and shall keep back the people from getting in the way or in any way interfering with the firemen in the discharge of their duties, and each of the said police officers shall be under the orders of the Fire Chief during a fire.
