§ 26B-2 GOALS.

   This chapter is created in order to:

   (a)   Foster civic pride in the beauty and accomplishments of the past as represented in the village's honorary landmarks and recognized historic areas;

   (b)   Encourage the preservation, promotion and maintenance of the village's historic resources;

   (c)   Encourage the protection and enhancement of the village's attractiveness to residents, visitors and prospective homebuyers;

   (d)   Encourage the maintenance and improvement property values in the village;

   (e)   Encourage the protection, preservation and enhancement of the village's aesthetic appearance and character;

   (f)   Encourage the conferring of honorary landmark and recognized historic area status upon structures, buildings, objects and sites on a local level; and

   (g)   Educate the general public as to the significance of historic preservation.
