§ 36-6 POWERS AND DUTIES OF SUPERINTENDENT OF WATER GENERALLY.
   The superintendent of water shall have the management and control of all matters and things pertaining to the service of the water department. He or she shall preserve and protect the property of the village, in, by and relating to the waterworks and water-service system. He or she shall supervise and direct the laying of all service pipes or private water pipes in the streets, alleys and public grounds of the village, and all tapping, and the insertion of all service cocks in the water mains. He or she shall keep a complete and accurate record of all taps inserted, their exact location, number and size, and the lengths and sizes of all services pipes with locations of shut-off boxes. He or she shall make or direct all necessary repairs to the water system and all turning on or cutting off of water. He or she shall cause to be made readings of all meters connected with the water system, and shall keep accurate records of such readings. He or she shall, in addition, perform such other duties as may be required of him or her by the provisions of this code or by ordinance or resolution of the board of trustees.
