§ 23-14 DUTY OF OPERATOR IN EVENT OF ACCIDENT.
   It shall be unlawful for the operator of a vehicle which has collided with any person or property in such a manner as to cause an injury or damage to any person or property to fail or refuse to stop immediately to ascertain the extent of such injury or damage, to render such assistance as may be needed, to give his or her true name and residence to the injured person or any other persons requesting the same, and to give notice of such accident to a police officer, or if no police officer is present, then to the village police department.
