For the purposes of this article:
APPROVED SMOKE DETECTOR, SMOKE DETECTOR, or DETECTOR. A smoke detector of the ionization or photoelectric type, which complies with all the requirements of the State of Illinois and the rules and regulations of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and which is of a type approved by the assistant director of public safety-fire chief.
DWELLING UNIT. A room or suite of rooms used for human habitation, and includes a single-family residence as well as each living unit of a multiple family residence and each living unit in a mixed-use building.
