§ 9-5 STOP ORDERS.
   (a)   In case work is being done in violation of, or contrary to, the manner prescribed in this chapter, the director of public works or any other building officer is hereby authorized to order such work stopped. Such verbal stop order shall be followed within 24 hours by a written stop order signed by the director of public works, or any other building officer.
   (b)   On receipt of such stop order, it shall be unlawful to continue with the work, except pumping or such other work as may be necessary to prevent property damage, until written notice to proceed shall be given by the director of public works. Such written notice shall be given when the provisions of this chapter are complied with.
