The public safety commission shall have such powers and duties as are now, or may hereafter be, given to boards of fire and police commissioners in accordance with Division 2.1 of Article X of the Illinois Municipal Code, Ill. Rev. Stat. ch. 24, §§ 10-2.1-1 et seq., or its successor statutory provisions; as supplemented by the ordinances and code of the Village of Glencoe. Without limitation of the foregoing, the public safety commission shall have the power to limit applicants for positions in the public safety department to those persons who either are citizens of the United States or have applied for United States citizenship.
