(a) The director of public works shall have charge of the maintenance of all public streets, alleys, roads, bridges, culverts, sidewalks and other structures pertaining thereto in the village.
(b) He or she shall have charge of the operation and maintenance of all public sewers and drains in the village.
(c) He or she shall have charge of the maintenance of trees located in the public streets and upon other public property.
(d) He or she shall have charge of all buildings, grounds and equipment belonging to the village, except that which is expressly delegated to the supervision of other officers and departments.
(e) He or she shall have charge of the collection and disposal of garbage, ashes, rubbish and other waste.
(f) He or she shall supervise the construction, erection, alteration, maintenance, repair, removal and inspection of all buildings, walls, structures or portions thereof, and all accessories thereto, within the village, and shall enforce all provisions of this code and other ordinances relating thereto.
(g) He or she shall supervise the construction, installation, alteration, repair and inspection of all plumbing installations and house connections to sewers within the village, and shall enforce all provisions of this code and other ordinances relating thereto.
(h) He or she shall supervise the construction, erection, installation, alteration, repair, removal and inspection of all tanks or containers for the storage or use of inflammable liquids and equipment for the use and sale of inflammable liquids within the village, as regulated by this code.
(i) He or she shall issue all permits provided by the building, plumbing, electrical and zoning regulations of the village and shall perform such other specific duties as are provided therein.
(j) He or she shall appoint and remove such employees, inspectors and assistants as he or she may require, and prescribe the duties thereof subject to the approval of the village manager.
(k) He or she shall perform the duties of village engineer.
(l) He or she shall supervise the regulation of the installation, alteration and use of all electrical equipment.
(m) He or she shall have charge of the village waterworks and water distribution system and all property pertaining thereto. He or she shall manage and operate the village waterworks and shall be responsible for the efficiency thereof.
(n) He or she shall enforce all ordinances, rules and regulations relating to the operation of the department of public works.
(o) He or she shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the village manager.
