It shall be the duty of the village prosecutor to prepare and prosecute all suits or actions involving violations of this code or other village ordinances and of the statutes of the state, which are authorized by law to be instituted before the police magistrate of the village. The village prosecutor shall also furnish legal advice to the officers of the police department of the village, to other members of the village organization and to the general public interested in suits or actions within the jurisdiction of the village. The village prosecutor shall file a written monthly report with the village manager containing information concerning the work of his or her office during the preceding month.
