(A) No new utility poles or guys shall be installed within or upon any sidewalk of the city. The utility poles are to be located on the outer boundary of a sidewalk, if one exists, or if no sidewalk exists at the time of the installation, the pole shall be located no less than six feet from the edge of the existing pavement.
(B) In the event it becomes necessary to replace any existing utility pole located within a sidewalk in the city, the entire width of the sidewalk in which the pole is located shall be removed for a distance of two feet on each side of the pole, and replaced in the same condition as prior to the removal of the pole. The sidewalk, after the work has been completed, shall be one continuous, smooth surface. It is the intent of this section that, upon replacement or removal of a utility pole located within a sidewalk, that the entire width of the sidewalk be removed and replaced.
(C) It is the objective of the city to provide street intersections with a minimum pavement radius of curvature of 30 feet; therefore, any poles to be installed or replaced that would conflict with the construction in the future may only be installed or replaced with the approval of the Superintendent of the Street Department. No permit for a street cut, as provided in §§ 97.15 through 97.20, shall be issued by the City Clerk/Administrator, when the replacement of a utility pole is involved, until the Superintendent of the Street Department or his or her designated representative, has approved the application therefor.
(D) All sidewalks replaced or repaired as a result of utility pole installations shall be constructed in accordance with the specifications required by the Street Department for new sidewalk construction in the city.
