137.02 POLICE CHIEF.
   (a)   Position Established. Editor’s Note: Former Section 137.02 (a) was repealed by Ordinance 2006-17, passed April 18, 2006.
   (b)   Powers and Duties. The Police Chief shall be accountable to the City Manager and shall perform the following duties:
      (1)   Formulate and administer procedures pertaining to the enforcement of rules and regulations for the operation of the Police Department, including part- time police officers and such auxiliary or private policemen as may be appointed;
      (2)   Be responsible for the preservation of the public peace, order and safety, the prevention and detection of crime, the apprehension of offenders and violators of the law, the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of all laws, ordinances, resolutions or statutes;
      (3)   Have control of the assignment of all police officers;
      (4)   Provide for the training and instruction of the officers and employees of the Police Department;
      (5)   Act as a liaison officer with other law enforcement agencies;
      (6)   Perform such duties as may be required by ordinance or resolution of the City Commission;
      (7)   Perform such other duties as may be required by the City Manager.
