§ 28-181 RIDING ON SIDEWALKS.

   No person shall ride or propel a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle upon any sidewalk, except at a permanent or temporary driveway within the City of Flint.

§ 28-182 CARRYING PACKAGES.

   No person operating a motorcycle or motor- driven cycle, shall carry any package, bundle or article which prevents the driver from keeping both hands upon the handlebars or steering mechanism of the vehicle.

§ 28-183 CRASH HELMETS REQUIRED FOR OPERATORS AND PASSENGERS.

   (a)   A person operating or riding on a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle on a public thoroughfare shall wear a crash helmet on his head. Crash helmets shall be approved by the Department of State Police. The Department shall promulgate rules for the implementation of this section in accordance with and subject to the provisions of Act 306 of the Public Acts of 1969, being MCLA §§ 24.201 through 24.313. Rules in effect when this ordinance takes effect shall apply to helmets required by this ordinance.

   (b)   A person operating a motorcycle or motor- driven cycle shall not allow a passenger to ride on said motorcycle or motor-driven cycle without a crash helmet approved by the Department of State Police.

§ 28-184 OPERATOR’S LICENSE — REQUIRED BY PERSONS OVER 14.

   It shall be unlawful for any person over the age of fourteen (14) years to drive a motor vehicle upon any highway in the City of Flint without first having obtained an instruction permit, or an operator’s license, or a chauffeurs license, as required by the State law.

§ 28-185 SAME — TO BE IN POSSESSION; ADULT LICENSED DRIVER TO ACCOMPANY HOLDER OF INSTRUCTION PERMIT.

   Operators and chauffeurs must have operator’s or chauffeur’s licenses, as required by the general laws of the State, in their possession at all times while operating a motor vehicle on any highway. The holder of an instruction permit while driving shall have in the motor vehicle an adult licensed operator or chauffeur who is actually occupying the seat beside the driver.

§ 28-186 SAME — CHANGE OF ADDRESS TO BE INDICATED.

   Any operator or chauffeur, who shall change his residence previous to the expiration of a license granted under the general laws of the State, shall immediately return such license to the local Examining Board, Sheriff’s Department, Police Department or Michigan State Police, whose duty it shall be to write on said license the new address in the proper space therefor and the date of the change.
