12-4-10: PEDESTRIANWAYS:
   A.   Determination Of Need: The developer of any subdivision, whether residential or nonresidential in character, shall request a determination of the need for pedestrianways from the planning commission, at the time of sketch plat submission.
   B.   Request Construction: The planning commission, after reviewing the request, may require that pedestrianways be constructed and suitably surfaced, to connect with existing or future walkways in the area and provide for adequate pedestrian circulation.
   C.   Pedestrianways Plan: A pedestrianways plan should consider the provision of adequate pedestrianways within any subdivision or portion thereof, with consideration given to walkway connections in areas adjacent to, or outside of, the subdivision. Pedestrian approaches to such focal points as school sites, recreation areas and parks should be provided for, in addition to pedestrianways for normal circulation.
   D.   Design And Location: Pedestrianways shall be designed and located in accordance with the following provisions:
      1.   Minimum paving section where sidewalks are required shall be four feet (4') in width;
      2.   Pedestrianways shall be located within the dedicated, nonpavement, right of way of all roads;
      3.   Provisions in section 12-3-7 of this title shall be met; and
      4.   A median strip of grassed or landscaped area, at least two feet (2') wide, shall separate all pedestrianways from adjacent curbs.
   E.   Curb Ramps For Physically Handicapped: Pedestrianway design and construction shall consider the guidelines for the design and construction of curb ramps for the physically handicapped, contained in the Oklahoma state highway department's "Safety Design Guide For Municipal Street Systems".
