131.07 DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
   (a)   For insubordination, malfeasance, misfeasance, nonfeasance or violation of any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Director of Public Safety as provided in Section 131.06, or any other cause for removal or discipline under the laws of the State, the Director of Public Safety may suspend for a period of not more than thirty days or remove from office the Chief of Police, lieutenants, sergeants or any regular or special policeman. In the event of removal or suspension, the officer shall not be entitled to compensation from and after the date thereof. The cause of such suspension or removal by the Director of Public Safety shall be filed in writing by the Director of Public Safety in accordance with the laws of the State.
   (b)   The Chief of Police also shall have the power to suspend any member of the Police Division under his supervision for insubordination, malfeasance, misfeasance, nonfeasance or violation of any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Director of Public Safety or for any other cause for suspension or discipline under the laws of the State. The period of suspension shall be for a period of not more than thirty days, during which time the member so suspended shall not be entitled to compensation. The cause of the suspension by the Chief shall be filed in writing by the Chief with the Director of Public Safety.
