1-11-2: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings as set forth:
DISASTER: Person caused and natural occurrences such as fire, flood, drought, earthquake, tornado, windstorm, hazardous substance or nuclear plant accident or incident which threatens the public peace, health and safety of the people of the city or which damage and destroy public or private property. The term includes enemy attack, sabotage or other hostile actions from without the state.
EMERGENCY INTERIM SUCCESSOR: A person designated pursuant to this chapter in the event a person is unavailable to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of an office until a successor is appointed or until the lawful incumbent is able to resume exercise of the powers and discharge the duties of the office.
UNAVAILABLE: Either that a vacancy in office exists and there is no deputy authorized to exercise all of the powers and discharge the duties of the office or that the lawful incumbent of the office is absent or unable to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of the office. (2007 Code § 2-200)
