9-3-2: ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR:
   A.   Office Created: The office of electrical inspector is hereby created and the city manager is given the authority and duty of appointing an electrical inspector, subject to confirmation by the board of city commissioners, who shall serve at his pleasure. (1980 Code § 4-34; amd. 2002 Code)
   B.   Inspection Duties; Cause Correction Of Defective Wiring:
      1.   It shall be the duty of the city electrical inspector to inspect all electrical wiring and apparatus within the corporate limits of the city in order to ascertain if such wiring or apparatus is in any respect dangerous to life or property.
      2.   The electrical inspector shall make periodic inspection tours of all existing wiring systems and apparatus and at any time any defective wiring or irregularities are discovered, he shall notify the owner or lessee of said property where such defective wiring or irregularities are found, setting out the defects in writing, and he shall allot a definite period of time within which said defective wiring or irregularities are found, setting out the defects in writing, and he shall allot a definite period of time within which said defective wiring or irregularities must be corrected. If the owner of lessee of such premises shall refuse or fail to comply with such requirements within the specified time, such shall constitute an offense against the city and each separate day thereof shall be a separate offense. The existence of such condition is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and may be abated as other public nuisances, in the manner prescribed in other sections of the city code. (1980 Code § 4-35)
   C.   General Supervisory Authority: The city electrical inspector shall have the general supervision over all electrical wiring, apparatus, lines and appurtenances on or in any and all buildings, streets and alleys, parks and private lots, within the corporate limits of the city, and is hereby vested with full authority to enter upon any premises or in any building, at any reasonable hour, in the discharge of his duty.
