Real and personal property may be bequeathed, granted, devised, or conveyed to the city for the purpose of the improvement or ornamentation of said parks or approaches, or for the establishment or maintenance therein of museums, monuments, collections of natural history, statues, fountains or other works of art, upon such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the grantors or devisers thereof, and accepted by the board of commissioners of the city. All property so devised, granted, bequeathed or conveyed, and the rents, issues, profits and income thereof, shall be subject to the management, direction and control of the city manager, with the approval of the board of commissioners.
