6-1-10: ACCIDENTS:
   A.   Duty To Give Information: Every driver of a motor vehicle, after participating in or causing an accident by collision or otherwise, or injuring any person or property, shall forthwith stop and give his name and address, the name and address of each occupant of the motor vehicle driven by himself, and the number of his vehicle, to any person demanding the same, and, after affording every reasonable assistance to the injured person or animal, report the accident forthwith to the police. (1980 Code § 20-13)
   B.   Report To Police: The driver of a vehicle which is in any manner involved in an accident resulting in bodily injury to or death of any person, or in which it is apparent that damage to one vehicle or other property is in excess of three hundred dollars ($300.00) shall, as soon as practicable, report such accident to a police officer or to the police department. Making out a written report of the accident in the office of the police department as soon as practicable after the accident to be forwarded to the department of public safety of the state, in accordance with law, shall also be deemed compliance with this section.
