(a) There is hereby created a police department, an administrative department of the village.
(b) The police department shall consist of the chief of police, who shall be ex officio village marshal, eleven (11) sergeants, twenty nine (29) patrol officers, and such other employees as may be provided for from time to time by the president and board of trustees. The chief of police may appoint two (2) of the aforementioned department members as deputy chiefs and six (6) of said department members as commanders in the manner provided in section 2-105 of this chapter.
