(a) Use of Blanket Bond. All employees and elected and appointed officers of the Village, with the exception of the officers and employees listed in subsection (d) of this Section 254.04
, shall be covered under the provisions of a public employees' blanket bond in lieu of the execution of individual bonds conditioned upon the faithful performance of their offices and duties. No bond shall be required for the Director of Law, Assistant Director of Law, Prosecutor, or members of Council.
(b) Amount of Blanket Bond. The public employees' blanket bond shall be executed in favor of the Village by a surety company authorized to issue surety and fidelity bonds in the State, and shall be in the amount of two thousand, five hundred dollars ($2,500) for each position or office held by an employee or officer of the Village, other than those officials excepted by the provisions of subsection (a) hereof, and shall be approved by the Mayor and Solicitor.
(c) Conditions of Blanket Bond. The public employees' blanket bond provided for herein shall be conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties and offices of the individually covered officers and employees, and upon the accounting for and paying over to the proper officer of the Village all monies and other property coming into the possession of the individually covered officers and employees and belonging to the Village.
(d) Individual Bonds. Individual bonds conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties and offices of the officers excepted from the coverage of the public employees' blanket bond by the provisions of division (a) of this section shall be executed by such officers, with approved sureties, in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for the Chief Fiscal Officer, three thousand dollars ($3,000) for the police officer in charge of the Police Confidential Fund and five thousand dollars ($5,000) each for the Mayor, the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Administrative Assistant to the Chief and Police Services, the Building Commissioner, and the officer or employee charged with the duties of the Clerk of Mayor's Court.
