246.13 OHIO PEACE OFFICER TRAINING CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   As a condition employment in the Police Department, all initial members of the Police Department must obtain a valid certificate issued by the Executive Director of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council pursuant to Ohio R.C. 109.75, as amended, unless the appointee holds a current, valid certificate at the time of his or her appointment. The appointee shall have two attempts to pass the examination for the certificate within the first year of service in the Police Department. If the appointee is unable to obtain the certificate after the two attempts to pass the examination, the appointee shall be deemed to have unsatisfactorily completed the probationary period and the appointee shall be terminated from the department pursuant to Section 246.11. The Village Clerk is authorized to pay for the initial program of instruction, provided that the applicant does not hold a valid certificate at the time of his or her initial appointment.
