242.27 PART-TIME JAILERS.
   (a)   Position Established. There is hereby established a position to be known as Non-Regular Police Jailer. Individuals holding this position must comply with the Rules and Regulations promulgated by the Village Police Department, as amended from time to time.
   (b)   Duties. The duties incident to the position of the Jailer shall be maintaining the security and safety of the prisoners incarcerated in the Police Department Jail and to perform such other and additional duties and functions as directed by the Police Chief and/or Jail Administrator. Applicants for the position of Non-Regular Police Jailer shall be at least 21 years of age. The Mayor, with the approval of Council, may refuse to consider an applicant for the position of Non-Regular Police Jailer who is a current user of illegal drugs; who has been convicted of a felony; who has been guilty of infamous or notoriously disgraceful conduct; who has been dismissed from any public position for delinquency or misconduct; or who has made false statements of any material fact or practice or attempted to practice any deception or fraud in his or her application or in his or her examination in establishing his or her ability or securing his or her appointment.
   (c)   Appointment and Term. The part-time Non-Regular Police Jailers shall be appointed by the Mayor, as the need arises, with a recommendation from the Police Chief and/or Jail Administrator.
   (d)   Uniform Allowances. The Part-time Jailers, in addition to salaries and compensation provided, shall be provided a uniform allowance as prescribed by this section.
