(a) In addition to the salaries and compensation provided for the members of the Police Department, the Village shall furnish the cost of all dress uniforms required by members of the Department. Any uniforms ruined or destroyed in the line of duty within one year from the date of purchase shall be replaced by the Village with the approval of the Police Chief. The Chief, subject to the approval of the Mayor, shall designate the design and style of the uniforms for the Department.
(b) Allowable items may be purchased by the member with approval from the Police Chief. The member may purchase an item he or she deems necessary, at intervals designated by the Police Chief, not to exceed the amount established in the policy set forth by the Chief per calendar year.
Full-Time Officers:
All full-time members of the Police Department below the rank of Deputy Chief will be subject to the most current collective bargaining article concerning uniform allowance and to the Cuyahoga Heights Police Department’s Uniform Policy.
Part-Time Officers:
All part-time officers will receive a uniform allowance according to the Cuyahoga Police Department’s Policy regarding part-time uniform allowance as established by the Chief. Not to exceed six hundred dollars ($600) per officer in one calendar year.
Non-Bargaining Unit Members:
All full-time non-bargaining unit members will receive a uniform allowance according to the Cuyahoga Heights Police Department’s Policy regarding non-bargaining unit employee’s uniform allowances. Not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) per employee in one calendar year.
(c) The written approval of the Police Chief shall precede any purchases. All purchases will only be made through suppliers approved by the Chief.

(d) The following non-bargaining employees of the Police Department shall receive an annual clothing maintenance allowance as follows: Police Chief, six hundred dollars ($600.00); Deputy Police Chief, six hundred dollars ($600.00). Said allowance shall be paid annually in December of each year. If employment qualifying for the clothing maintenance allowance terminates prior to December of the applicable year, the allowance shall be prorated.
(e) The Police Chief, Deputy Chief, and any part-time officers whose primary appointing agency is the Cuyahoga Heights Police Department will be entitled to one approved ballistic vest every five years.
