1305.07 VIOLATIONS; PENALTY.
(a) Reports. All reports that a condition exists or that an operation is being performed in violation of this Building Code or any law or ordinance assigned to the Building Official for enforcement may be required to be made in writing and when so made shall bear the signature of the person making the report.
(b) Notice of Violation. The Building Official shall serve a notice of violation or order on the person responsible for the erection, construction, alteration, extension, repair, use or occupancy of a building or structure in violation of the provisions of this Building Code, or in violation of a detail statement or a plan approved thereunder, or in violation of a permit or certificate issued under the provisions of this Building Code, and such order shall direct the discontinuance of the illegal action or condition and the abatement of the violation.
(c) Prosecution of Violation. If the notice of violation is not complied with promptly, the Building Official shall request the legal counsel of the Municipality to institute the appropriate proceeding at law or in equity to restrain, correct or abate such violation or to require the removal or termination of the unlawful use of the building or structure in violation of the provisions of this Building Code or of the order or direction made pursuant thereto. (d) Violation Penalties. Any person who shall violate, knowingly permit, aid and abet or countenance the violation of the provisions of this Building Code or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building or structure in violation of an approved plan or directive of the Building Official or of a permit or certificate issued under the provisions of this Building Code, shall be punished as provided in Section 1301.99. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.
Any person who shall countenance any erection, construction, alteration or repair of any structure which requires a permit as a prerequisite shall, upon detection, be required to purchase the necessary permit and, as a penalty therefor, pay an additional sum in double the amount of the permit, which payment shall be made to the Department of Building and Zoning Inspection. Nothing herein, however, shall be construed so as to preclude the criminal prosecution for conduct which otherwise constitutes a misdemeanor under the provisions of this Building Code.

(e) Violation of Permit Requirements.
