1303.01 LETTER "A".
(a) "Accessory building" means a subordinate building which is located on the same lot as the main building, and the use of which is incidental to that of the main building.
(b) "Accessory use" means a use which is incidental to the principal use of a building.
(c) "Addition" means any extension or enlargement of a building or structure.
(d) "Alley" means a secondary thoroughfare less than twenty feet in width, which is dedicated for the public use of vehicles and pedestrians and which affords access to abutting property.
(e) "Alteration", as applied to a building or structure, means a change or rearrangement in the structural parts or in a window or exit facilities or a change of the class of occupancy, or an enlargement, whether by extending on a side or by increasing in height, or the moving from one location or position to another.
(f) "Amusement device" means a contrivance or structure, open to the public, by which persons are conveyed or moved in an unusual manner for diversion.
(g) "Apartment" means a dwelling unit in a multi-family dwelling, which unit is arranged, intended or designed to be occupied as the residence of a single family, individual or group of not more than three individuals not related by blood or marriage.
(h) "Apartment house" means a multi-family dwelling which contains or which is arranged, intended or designed to contain three or more apartments.
(i) "Approved" means passed upon favorably by the Building Official, board or other authority authorized by law to give approval in the matter in question.
(j) "Architect" or “registered architect” means a person holding a certificate under Ohio R. C. 4703.06 and registered pursuant to Ohio R. C. 4703.01 to 4703.19, inclusive.
(k) "Area, building" means the maximum horizontal projected area of a building at or above finished grade, including all enclosed appendages.
(l) "Area, floor" means the horizontal projected floor area inside the exterior enclo sure walls and the extremities of the floor where there is no exterior wall, or between the inside of the exterior enclosure walls, and extremities of the floor where there is no exterior wall, and the nearest side of the fire walls.
(m) "Attic" means the space between the top of the ceiling framing of the top habitable story, or any flooring over such framing, and the roof framing and any walls constituting a part of the enclosure of such space.
