1353.07 FIRE PROTECTION EXCEPTIONS FOR EXISTING BUILDINGS.
   Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 1353.06, in existing buildings originally designed for multiple dwellings, the following construction shall be considered as meeting the requirements of Section 1353.06:
   (a)   Well constructed lath and plaster construction shall be considered as meeting the requirements of subsections (a) and (c) of Section 1353.06.
   (b)   Existing doors shall be considered as meeting the requirements of subsection (b) of Section 1353.06 if any plain glass in such doors is replaced with one-fourth (1/4) inch wired glass or an approved equivalent, if any doors having a fire resistance rating less than that of a solid core door are painted on both sides with an approved fire-retarding paint and if, in the case of existing doors to interior stairways, such doors are also provided with self-closing devices.
   (c)   Existing windows or transoms shall be considered as meeting the requirements of subsection (a) of Section 1353.06 if fixed and nonopenable, and if any plain glass in such windows or transoms is replaced with one-fourth (1/4) inch wired glass or approved equivalent.
