The provisions of Section 18-11-1117.6.1 shall apply to buildings and facilities designated as historic structures that undergo a change of occupancy, unless technically infeasible. If compliance with the requirements for accessible routes, ramps, entrances or toilet facilities will threaten or destroy the historic significance of the building or facility, as determined by the Commissioner of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, the alternative requirements of Section 18-11-1118.2.3 for that element shall be permitted. The Commissioner of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities shall make the determination in consultation with (1) the Commission on Chicago Landmarks if the building is a Chicago landmark, and, (2) in all other cases, the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
