If a walk crosses or adjoins a vehicular way, and the walking surface is not separated by curbs, railings or other elements between the pedestrian areas and vehicular areas, a detectable warning surface shall be provided at the transition between the pedestrian and vehicular areas. The detectable warning surface shall extend 24 inches minimum in the direction of travel and shall extend the full width of the curb ramp or other transition. The detectable warning surface shall be located so that the edge of the detectable warning surface or truncated domes nearest the curb line is 6 inches (150 mm) minimum and 8 inches (205 mm) maximum from the curb line.
