18-11-1109.6.2 Rails in elevator cars.

Rails shall be provided on the side walls of the elevator car, mounted between 32 inches (813 mm) and 36 inches (914 mm) above the floor of the car. The rails shall be 1-inch (25 mm) to 2-inch (51 mm) diameter grab bars complying with ICC/ANSI A117.1 or shall be bar sections 1 1/4 inches (32 mm) to 1 1/2 inches (38 mm) in depth by 3/8-inch (10 mm) in thickness with 1/8inch (3 mm) radius edges.
