SECTION 8.04 EFFECTIVE DATE AND TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS.

   The Charter shall take effect from the time of its approval by the electors of the City for the following specific purposes:

   For limiting the size of the Police and Fire Departments in accordance with Sections 4.04 and 4.05. 

   For vacancies occurring in the positions of Street Superintendent and Park Superintendent in accordance with Section 4.06. 

For nomination and election of all elective offices in accordance with all sections of Article VI. 

For the salaries of the elective offices prescribed in this Charter for the term beginning January 1, 1972; 

The Council in office at the time of the passage shall fix such salaries on or before June 1, 1972. 

For all other purposes, the Charter shall take effect on January 1, 1972.
