PREAMBLE

   We, the people of the City of Burton, Genesee County, Michigan, under the authority of the Constitution of the State of Michigan, in order to obtain the benefits of local home rule, to encourage more direct and efficient methods in the transaction of our municipal affairs, and otherwise to promote our common welfare, do ordain, establish and adopt this charter for our municipal government.
