8-4-7: LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEMS:
   A.   Permit And Place Required: No installation of lawn sprinkler systems shall be made until a permit is issued by the building department. A plan in duplicate shall be submitted for approval by the installer when the application is made. One plan is to be kept as a record in the Village files and one copy of the plan stamped "approved" is to be issued to the installer when the permit is issued and is made available when installation is made.
   B.   Inspection Fee, Bond Required: An inspection fee of one dollar ($1.00) for each sprinkler head in the sprinkler system shall be charged with a minimum charge of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and a bond of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) shall also be furnished by the plumbing contractor before the permit is issued.
   C.   Licensed Plumbers To Install, Inspection Required: All installations of lawn sprinkler systems shall be made by qualified, licensed contractors as required under the Illinois plumbing license law 1 and a final inspection will be made by the Village plumbing inspector before installation can be approved for use of water and connection to the water distribution system on premises.
   D.   Construction Specifications:
      1.   Compliance With Plumbing Code: All street openings, water taps, B-boxes, water connections and meters for measuring water consumption, are to comply with, and shall be installed in accordance with, the existing plumbing code 2 .
      2.   Sprinkler Heads: All sprinkler heads shall be level with all public sidewalks, curbs and roadways.
      3.   Automatic Timing And Backflow Devices: An automatic timing device and backflow device shall be installed on each section of the lawn sprinkling systems for proper control and consumption of water. Only automatic timing devices shall be installed on lawn sprinkling systems and all sections shall be installed in a manner which will ensure proper draining.
   E.   Nonliability Of Village: The Village assumes no responsibility for damaged heads due to public work on such utilities. (1987 Code; amd. Ord. 2019-27, 11-18-2019; Ord. CO-2023-15, 5-15-2023)
