8-1-1: DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS AND WATER 1 :
   A.   Office Created, Appointment: There is hereby created the office of Director of Public Works and Water, an executive office of the Village. Such Director of Public Works and Water shall be appointed by the President and Board of Trustees.
   B.   Powers And Duties:
      1.   Streets 2 : All public streets, alleys, sidewalks and other public ways in the Village shall be under the supervision of the Director of Public Works and Water. He shall have charge of and supervision over all work thereon, and the cleaning thereof and he shall see to it that all gutters and drains therein function properly and that the same are kept free from defects. He shall be charged with the enforcement of all provisions of this Code and other ordinance provisions relating to such public places, except traffic ordinances, and he is hereby authorized to enforce all such provisions.
      2.   Sewers And Sewer System 3 :
         a.   The Director of Public Works and Water shall be ex officio Superintendent of Sewers, and shall see to the enforcement of all provisions of this Code and other ordinances relating thereto, and shall supervise the repair thereof where no provision to the contrary is made.
         b.   The Director of Public Works and Water shall have charge and custody of sanitary and storm sewer systems of the Village and shall see to it that the same are kept in good repair and that they function properly.
      3.   Lights: The Director of Public Works and Water shall supervise the lighting of the public streets and alleys and shall keep the lighting system in efficient operation and good repair.
      4.   Water Supply System 1 :
         a.   The Director of Public Works and Water shall have care and custody of the Municipal water supply system and all equipment, pipes and machinery pertaining thereto. He shall be responsible for the care of all such property and for the efficient management of said system.
         b.   The Director of Public Works and Water shall perform such duties as may be prescribed for him by the Westchester- Broadview Water Commission.
      5.   Custodian Of Village Property: The Director of Public Works and Water shall be the custodian of all property of the Village which is not assigned to the care or custody of any other officer. (1987 Code)
