It is declared to be the public policy of this Municipality in the exercise of its power to regulate for the protection of the public health, safety, morals and welfare: to assure fair housing, a competitive real estate market, and freedom from the effects of residential segregation by race, color, religion, creed, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, familial status, or physical or mental handicap, to promote population diversity in an open community, and to secure to its citizens the economic, social and professional benefits of living in a diverse society.
