5-1-3: COMPOSITION OF DEPARTMENT:
   A.   Officers And Members:
      1.   Department Members: A Deputy Chief, three (3) Captains, three (3) Lieutenants and such additional members of the Fire Department as may from time to time be prescribed by the Chief and approved by the President and Board of Trustees shall constitute the remainder of the department and they shall function as provided by the rules and regulations of the Fire Department.
      2.   Paid On-Call Firefighter:
         a.   Number Recommended By Chief: The department may be supplemented by "paid on-call firefighters", the number of which may be recommended by the Chief with the approval of the President and Board of Trustees.
         b.   Membership; Appointment; Removal; Obedience To Orders: The membership of the "paid on-call firefighters" shall consist of such persons as may be appointed by the Chief with the approval of the President and Board of Trustees. Appointments shall be made by the Chief only after a medical and physical examination and such other examination as prescribed by the Chief and President and Board of Trustees. Any member of the department who is a "paid on-call firefighter" may be suspended or discharged from the department by the Chief at any time he may deem such action necessary for the good of the department. Any member of the department who is a "paid on-call firefighter" in attendance at a fire and who shall neglect or refuse to obey the orders of the officer in command at the fire, shall be subject to immediate dismissal.    B.   Inspectors: The Fire Chief may detail such members of the Fire Department as inspectors as shall from time to time be necessary only after the approval of the President. The Fire Chief shall recommend to the Village the employment of technical inspectors who, when such authorization is made, shall be selected through an examination to determine their fitness for the position. The examination shall be open to members and nonmembers of the Fire Department, and appointments made after examination shall be for an indefinite term with removal only for cause. (1987 Code)
   C.   Fire Department Organization: The Fire Department may have a social organization approved by the Fire Chief and the President and Board of Trustees and may hold such meetings and engage in such social functions and community activities as the rules provide. Officers of the organization may be elected by members of the department, and shall include a Secretary and Treasurer and the officers shall make such rules and regulations as may be necessary. In the event foreign fire insurance sums are received by the Fire Department, the Treasurer shall give a sufficient bond to the Village. Any monies so received shall be used only as provided by statute. (Ord. 87-5, 7-20-1987)
