4-15-9: EXEMPTIONS:
Sounds caused by the following are exempt from the prohibitions contained in this chapter:
   A.   Utility Repairs: Repairs of utility structures that pose a clear and immediate danger to life or safety.
   B.   Emergency Vehicles: Sirens, whistles or bells lawfully used by emergency vehicles.
   C.   Emergency Signals: The emission of sound for the purpose of alerting persons to the existence of an emergency or in the performance of emergency work.
   D.   Repairs: Repairs or excavations of bridges, streets or highways, or utilities by or on behalf of the Village, Cook County, the State of Illinois or the United States government between the hours of eight o'clock (8:00) P.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) A.M., when the public welfare and convenience renders it impractical to perform the work during hours otherwise allowed by ordinance.
   E.   Parades And Public Events: Parades and public events, provided that such events are Village-sponsored or a permit has been obtained from the appropriate permitting authority.
   F.   Power Outages: Internal combustion engines when used during power outages to generate electricity, prevent freezing or to prevent flooding. (Ord. 2014-65, 11-3-2014)
