The Town Council may exempt certain golf carts or off-road vehicles from this subchapter in favor of town vehicles operated by town employees for use on town business, as determined by the Town Council, and vehicles owned by the town’s public schools operated by school employees for use on school business, as requested by the Superintendent of the Public Schools.

OFF-ROAD VEHICLES
The use of off-road vehicles, as defined in I.C. 14-8-2-185, and snowmobiles upon town streets, alleys, rights-of-way and park land is hereby prohibited; provided, however, that upon application, the Police Chief may permit the use of such vehicles in parades which are duly authorized under the procedures set forth in this code, and for industrial use where the purpose is to transport company personnel primarily upon company property where encroachment upon streets, alleys or rights-of-way is incidental and not the primary route.

MOTORIZED BICYCLES
A motorized bicycle may not be operated within the town under any of the following conditions:
(A) By a person less than 15 years of age;
(B) By a person who has not obtained a state identification card under I.C. 9-24, a permit under I.C. 9-24, an operator’s license under I.C. 9-24, a chauffeur’s license under I.C. 9-24 or a public passenger chauffeur’s license under I.C. 9-24;
(C) On a sidewalk; or
(D) At a speed greater than 25 mph.

(A) A person less than 18 years of age who operates or rides a motorized bicycle on a street or highway shall do the following:
(1) Wear protective headgear meeting the minimum standards set by the Bureau or a helmet that meets the standards established by the United States Department of Transportation under 49 C.F.R. § 571.218, in effect January 1, 1979; or
(2) Wear protective glasses, goggles or a transparent face shield.
(B) The parent of a child and the guardian of a protected person may not authorize or knowingly permit the child or protected person to violate this subchapter.
