9-22-5: EXCUSED ABSENCES:
If a parent, guardian or person having legal custody and control over a minor presents in writing to school officials within twenty four (24) hours after an occurrence or such other deadline as established by the school, any of the following reasons for an absence, there is a rebuttable presumption that it is a legitimate and acceptable excuse:
   (A)   Illness (if illness persists more than 5 days, a doctor's report will be required detailing the nature of the illness and the projected return date of the student);
   (B)   Observance of a religious holiday;
   (C)   Death in the family;
   (D)   Family emergency;
   (E)   Any situation beyond the control of the minor as determined by the student's school officials; or
   (F)   Such other circumstances which cause reasonable concern to the parent for the safety or health of the minor. (Ord. 16-1510, 7-7-2016)
