A patrol officer is charged with carrying out the functions of the police department, namely, the preservation of public peace, the protection of life and property, the prevention of crime, the arrest and prosecution of violators of the law, and the proper enforcement of all laws and ordinances as provided for by this code and the criminal law of the state. The patrol officer shall perform his/her duties and responsibilities in conformance with the provisions set forth in said administration, regulations and standard operating procedure.
