A department of the village to be known as the village police department is hereby established, which shall consist of the police chief, deputy police chief, captain of police, police lieutenants, police sergeants, patrol officers, radio communication officers and administrative officers. The primary objectives include, but are not limited to: (Ord. 95-946, 8-28-1995; amd. Ord. 01-1082, 5-17-2001)
(A) Suppress crime;
(B) Protect life and property;
(C) The preservation of law and order;
(D) The enforcement of the criminal and traffic laws of the state and the criminal and traffic ordinances of the village;
(E) The detection and apprehension of criminal and traffic offenders;
(F) The recovery of stolen property;
(G) Such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be imposed by law. (Ord. 95-946, 8-28-1995)
