(A) Job Description: It shall be the function and duty of all firefighter II/paramedic personnel of the fire department to extinguish all accidental or destructive fires and to prevent the occurrence or spread of such fire. All firefighter II/paramedics shall also provide emergency medical services or treatment wherever a situation arises in which services or treatment is necessary.
(B) Qualifications: In order to be considered for employment under this section, an applicant must be a state licensed paramedic and have received their licensure from an accredited school/hospital recognized by the Village Fire Department or is currently attending ~lasses at an accredited hospital and will be licensed within six months of hire. Personnel hired that are not certified basic operations firefighter will be sent to a recognized fire academy and will be required to achieve certification as a condition of employment The Fire Department Village Chief shall be permitted to allow firefighter/paramedic students to be released from duty to attend firefighter and paramedic training and shall be so compensated for off duty homs to attend such training. Any such firefighter and paramedic training tuition and fees shall be paid by the Village.
(C) Failure To Maintain Certification: If any individual, after becoming employed with the village, fails to maintain the above mentioned certification, disciplinary action can be imposed ranging from a reprimand to immediate termination. (Ord. 95-941, 8-3-1995; amd. Ord. 22-1706, 10-17-2022)
