There shall be created the office of elevator inspector who shall be appointed by the president, by and with the consent of the board of trustees of the village whose duty it shall be to inspect all elevator equipment which is either altered or installed at any building or facility in the village. Elevator equipment shall include freight and passenger elevators, dock lifts, freight lifts and other similar devices. The elevator inspector shall so certify that the foregoing equipment is in a safe and operable condition pursuant to the applicable codes, standards and specifications adopted by the village, including, but not limited to, the building and fire prevention codes 1 . Upon inspection or reinspection of elevator equipment in the village, the elevator inspector shall report his findings as to its condition to the fire department at which time the fire prevention officer shall administer and execute the necessary regulations and procedures. The elevator inspector shall be compensated for his duties as set forth by the president and board of trustees. (Ord. 02-1114, 4-18-2002)
