4-1-3: BUILDING REQUIREMENTS:
In all territory within the village or within one-half (1/2) mile of the corporate limits thereof, no lot or parcel of land, or any part thereof, shall be improved with any building for residential, commercial or industrial purposes, or to which the general public has access, unless the following requirements, inasmuch as they apply, are conformed with: (Ord. 54, 7-5-1945)

   (M)   Connections To Public Utilities:
      1.   Water Service Connections:
The installation shall be made by a licensed plumber or other person authorized by the village of Bedford Park.
All water supply service between street mains and meters shall be of lead pipe of the weight known as "strong" or of cast iron. All joints in lead pipe shall be "wiped joints".
The maximum size of water service connections which is permitted for a lot shall be as follows:
Connection to a four inch (4") main supplying both sides of the street three-quarter inch (3/4").
Connection to a four inch (4") main supplying one side of the street, one inch (1").
Connection to a six inch (6") or larger main, one and one- quarter inch (11/4").
No connection larger than the above shall be allowed for any single lot, unless the conditions are such as to make a larger supply necessary, and permission of the village is obtained.
A larger connection may be allowed for a building which occupies a lot more than fifty feet (50') wide, if permission is obtained from the village.
All water supply service pipes shall be laid in the ground to a depth of not less than five feet (5'), and in such a manner and having such surplus length as to prevent breakage by settlement.
Every service pipe smaller than one and one-half inch (11/2") shall be provided with a stopcock, easily accessible, placed beyond damage by frost and so located that the water can be conveniently shut off and drained from the pipe. Stopcock shall be enclosed in and protected by a cast iron box with a cover; box shall extend from the service pipe to a point above grade and shall be of proper size to admit a stop key for operating the stopcock.
