No person shall operate a motorized cart within the city without financial responsibility. Financial responsibility is in effect if a motor vehicle insurance policy is in effect with respect to the vehicle, with minimum amounts of financial responsibility as follows:
(A) Twenty-five thousand dollars for bodily injury to or the death of one individual;
(B) Fifty thousand dollars for bodily injury or the death of two or more individuals in any one accident; and
(C) Ten thousand dollars for damage to or the destruction of property in one accident.

(A) Nothing in this chapter shall apply to any self-propelled, two-wheeled vehicle.
(B) Nothing in this chapter shall apply to motorized carts operated by the city or carts being operated for special events with permission of the Mayor or Chief of Police.

(A) Any person who violates this chapter shall be subject to a fine of $50 for the first violation in a calendar year and $100 for the second violation in a calendar year. All fines collected hereunder shall be deposited in the general fund of the city. If a person is cited for a violation of this chapter for a third time in any calendar year, he or she shall be subject to a fine of $200 and the registration for the golf cart the person was operating at the time of the citation and the registration for any golf cart registered by that person shall be revoked and the golf cart(s) may not be re-registered for a period of one year.
(B) A further violation of this chapter may be subject to a fine as set forth under § 10.99 of the Aurora Municipal Code.
