§ 34.36 RECOMMENDATION AND SELECTION.
Upon receipt of the Chief of Police's recommendation provided in § 34.35, the City Manager may, in his discretion, extend a conditional offer of employment as a police trainee officer or probationary police officer(s). Upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment, the applicant(s) must then submit to a polygraph examination, comprehensive medical examination as written in § 34.37, and a psychological evaluation. If the applicant(s) successfully completes the required polygraph, medical and psychological examinations, he/she shall proceed to the next step in the probationary process. If the applicant given a conditional offer of employment does not successfully complete the polygraph examination, comprehensive medical examination and/or psychological examination, the conditional offer of employment shall be withdrawn and the applicant(s) shall no longer be considered for employment. The Chief of Police shall select from the next three applicant(s) on the eligibility list and recommend one of the applicants for employment to the City Manager, who may extend a conditional offer of employment if he deems it appropriate to do so. This process shall continue until an applicant has met all requirements for employment, the eligibility list has been depleted or has expired, or a decision is made not to fill the position. When an applicant who has received a conditional offer of employment has successfully completed the polygraph examination, comprehensive medical examination and psychological examination, and all other requirements for the position, his conditional offer of employment shall be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for its consideration of an offer of employment as a police trainee or probationary officer.
