§ 33.20 BACKGROUND CHECK.
   Each applicant who passes the written examination and the physical ability test (§ 33.17) shall be required to complete a detailed personal history questionnaire (PHQ) and shall be subject to a comprehensive personal background investigation conducted by a person designated by the Fire Chief who is trained to conduct such investigation. The designated investigator shall contact references indicated on the PHQ and employment application and the references’ personal evaluation of the applicant shall be noted. Further investigation shall be made relating to each applicant’s criminal and driving records, educational background, credit standing, military history, possession of an official Kentucky Fire Commission CP AT certification card, etc., and any other relevant information, discovered during the course of the investigation or which might relate to the applicant’s qualification for the position applied for. Such investigation shall be continued until all elements of the personal background have been verified or disproved. The investigator shall prepare a written record of all findings, which shall be reviewed and evaluated. The Fire Chief shall make a recommendation to the City Manager as to the applicant’s fitness for the position applied for.
