§ 33.17 PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST.
   (A)   Each applicant shall be required to satisfactorily complete a physical ability test at a place and time selected by the City of Ashland. The physical ability test shall be administered by Ashland Fire Department personnel designated by the Fire Chief.
   (B)   The physical ability test shall be scored with 50 points possible. Failure to complete any portion of the testing will result in the removal of the applicant from consideration for employment.
   (C)   The evaluation is for the purpose of exposing hidden physical abnormalities or problems and to determine as accurately as possible the ability of the applicant to cope with the extreme physical stress of a firefighter It shall be conducted and supervised by the Chief, and or his designee and other individuals selected by the Fire Chief.
   (D)   The same evaluation shall be given to each applicant regardless of gender and evaluated using accepted standards and norms for the position of firefighter.
   (E)   The physical ability test shall consist of the following:
      (1)   Aerobic level/condition:
         (a)   Heart rate resting;
         (b)   Blood pressure- resting.
      (2)   Stair climb (climbing stairs while carrying an additional 25 pound simulated hose pack).
      (3)   Hose raise (raising a tool with a rope to an elevated position).
      (4)   Ladder raise and extension (raising a ground ladder at the fire scene and extending the ladder to the roof or a window).
      (5)   Hose drag (advancing uncharged hose lines).
      (6)   Equipment carry (removing and carrying equipment from fire apparatus to fire ground).
      (7)   Forcible entry (penetrating a locked door, breaching a wall).
      (8)   Search maze (crawling through dark unpredictable areas to search for victims).
      (9)   Rescue drag (removing victim or partner from a fire building).
      (10)   Ceiling Pull (locating fire and checking for fire extension).
      (11)   Recovery heart rate.
      (12)   Ladder Climb (ability to operate at height on a ladder)
