§ 12-2-204. Disposition of unclaimed property.
   (a)   Report to Purchasing Agent. At the times and in the form prescribed by the County Purchasing Agent, the Department shall submit reports to the Purchasing Agent listing all unclaimed property in the Department's possession and the Department's recommendation for disposition of the unclaimed property.
   (b)   Disposal. The Purchasing Agent may dispose of unclaimed property or authorize the Department to dispose of unclaimed property by any method permitted for the disposal of supplies under § 8-2-116 of this Code. Unless the Purchasing Agent determines that the unclaimed property is of nominal value, the Purchasing Agent shall cause a notice to be published in one or more newspapers of general circulation in the County at least seven days before disposal. The notice shall:
      (1)   generally identify the property;
      (2)   state that the property will be subject to disposal if not claimed within seven days of the date of the notice; and
      (3)   if disposal will be by sale, the date, place, and terms of sale.
   (c)   Forfeiture of rights. All right and title to and interest in unclaimed property is forfeited if no person entitled to possession claims and takes possession of the property within 30 days after the date written notice is mailed pursuant to § 12-2-202 or within seven days after notice is given pursuant to subsection (b).
