The Department may return found property to the finder if the property has been held in the possession of the Department for at least 60 days and the owner of the property is unknown or has failed to claim and take possession of the property after notice in accordance with § 12-2-202. If the finder does not want the found property, the property shall be disposed of as unclaimed property.
